Fairy Tales

2015, mounted c-prints, dimensions variable

In these works I am created fictional tableaus, using photography as a tool to suspend and distort reality. I photographed a diverse range of objects—quotidian, personal and fantastical— creating a visual vocabulary to formalize and structure compositions.

The objects that I choose to photograph stemmed from my experiences and observations growing up in the Mid-West and my working life as an artist in Long Island City, New York. From treasured heirlooms to mass-produced and manufactured discards of consumerism, these objects form metaphoric connections to the world around me.
